This is a county-by-county look at how tint, PPF and detailing shop homepages in Metro Detroit handle the moments that decide whether a visitor asks for a quote.
How the data was collected
While researching the Michigan market in October 2026, we listed tint, PPF and detailing shops found through Google searches and public business listings. Then we ran our Free Shop Audit on the homepage of each one that had a reachable website: 106 shops in all.
- Each shop is assigned to a county by its city.
- The audit reads only the HTML a homepage sends before any scripts run. Anything a site builder or Google Tag Manager loads afterward, including some pixels, review widgets and booking tools, is invisible to it.
- This is a sample of shops we found, not a census, and no shop is named or ranked.
The county comparison

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oakland County | 52 | 68 | 85% | 92% | 81% | 67% | 38% |
| Macomb County | 15 | 68 | 87% | 100% | 87% | 40% | 33% |
| Wayne County | 13 | 68 | 92% | 92% | 62% | 69% | 38% |
| Rest of Michigan | 26 | 70 | 88% | 100% | 88% | 69% | 38% |

Source: Elevate Digital's Free Shop Audit, run on the homepage of each window tint, PPF and detailing shop in our Michigan research list (106 shops with a reachable website), October 2026. It's a sample of shops we found, not every shop in each county. Pixels loaded through Google Tag Manager, and content loaded later by JavaScript, are invisible to this check, so "no Meta pixel" means none was found in the page code. "Quote-path score" is the audit's 0-100 score for tap-to-call, quote form or booking, vehicle questions, prices and tap-to-text. No individual shop is named or ranked.
What holds everywhere
The most useful finding is how little the county matters for the biggest gaps:
- Tap-to-text is almost absent. It was missing on 92% of Oakland and Wayne homepages, and on every Macomb homepage in the sample.
- A third or more have no quote path on the homepage. 38% of Oakland and Wayne homepages, and 33% in Macomb, had no quote form or booking link on the homepage itself.
- Quote-path scores are nearly identical across counties (68 to 70). Wherever your shop is, the gap you can close is the same one.
Where counties differ (small samples, read with care)
| Difference | The counts behind it | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Showing prices | Wayne: 5 of 13 homepages (38%). Oakland: 10 of 52 (19%). Macomb: 2 of 15 (13%). | In Wayne, a shop without prices stands out more. Everywhere else, publishing prices sets you apart. |
| Showing reviews | Macomb: 9 of 15 (60%). Oakland and Wayne: about a third. | In Macomb, reviews on your homepage are close to expected. In Oakland and Wayne, they still set you apart. |
A handful of shops can swing these numbers. Treat them as a nudge, not a conclusion.
Closing the three biggest gaps
- Tap-to-text. Add a link that opens a text to your shop number:
<a href="sms:+1XXXXXXXXXX">Text us a photo of your car</a>. Put it next to your call button, at the top of the page on phones. - A homepage quote path. A short form (vehicle, service, timing, phone) or an online booking link on the homepage itself, not only on a contact page.
- Starting prices. One line per main service, for example "Ceramic tint, sedans, from $___". The price sheet guide shows how to set the numbers.
Questions about this data
Why only the homepage?
It's where most visitors land from Google and from a shop's social profiles, and checking the same page for every shop keeps the comparison fair. A shop may have a form or prices on another page; the audit reports what a visitor sees first.
How often is this updated?
We plan to refresh it every quarter as we check more shops. The date under the table shows when the numbers were last generated.
